If you are feeling...
Or, if you're:
… what we're talking about in this episode of the HerBusiness podcast ends that turmoil and uncertainty. Because in this episode, we'll zone into five essential things you should focus on when you find yourself unfocused or overwhelmed. By the end of this episode, you'll have some specific things to work on and a few resources I've created that will help you along the way. While simple, the five steps we'll cover can be challenging. It's a mind shift to start thinking strategically about your business. These five steps help you understand where to focus and feel like you have ample time to do the right things and the things that matter instead of racing around trying to do everything and burning yourself out. Here’s a sneak peek. 1. Set Your Vision - Where are you headed in the next 12 months? 2. Create Your Plan - How will you get to that Big Kahuna 12-month vision? What projects will you put on your schedule that will directly lead to your 12-month Vision, and what can you remove because it is a distraction? 3. Master Your Message - Create and refine your Connection Statement® and use it to open doors of opportunity for yourself. 4. Simplify Your Marketing Plan - - how will you attract, convert and keep more of your ideal clients? I encourage you to create your one-page plan. It makes thinking about your marketing so much easier. 5. Choose Your Growth Zones. What business area is most important for you to focus on right now? I’ve included links below to resources that can really help. And, for more personalised support and coaching and access to an incredible community of other women business owners, request your invitation to join us inside the HerBusiness Network. You’re heading off on vacation. You’re cramming to get things done before you go. For good measure, you check out the wifi speed in your hotel room, and you pack your laptop. Just. In. Case. But should you ‘unplug’ while you’re away? Or does it make more sense to fit some work in during your vacation? Many business owners say it’s difficult to detach from work when they’re supposed to be relaxing, and that’s true for me. Even in Vacation Mode, I cannot help but develop marketing strategies and brainstorm new ideas while lying on the beach or running in a new city. I personally rarely unplug totally. But I also no longer get down on myself for not being totally unplugged. Whether I have the iPad ad the beach under an umbrella, or I pull up my computer poolside to write some copy… I don’t beat myself up. I know it’s part of my process and that I create some of my best content and do my best planning when I mix up rest and relaxation with some brainstorming and work. We had a vibrant conversation on our Facebook Page and across all our social networks when I recently shared my thoughts about unplugging with our HerBusiness community. In this episode, I share some of our member strategies and my top six tips for balancing being away with staying on track with your business plans and goals.
Listen to Hear: -> What to do if you can’t totally ‘unplug’ without getting behind on projects -> The parameters that I set myself to reward myself and manage a balance between work and play while I’m away -> How I pre-plan my vacation, so there is little for me to do while I’m travelling. -> Why taking time to unwind will take the pressure off from the get-go. -> The ‘unplugging’ hack that enriches your vacation experience and gives you a much-needed break -> How to communicate that you’ll be away, so you don’t return to a crazy-full email inbox. -> The only ‘should’ that matters as you manage your vacation/work balance.
I’m so grateful to have the opportunity to step away from my business every once in a while to get that headspace that allows me to dream bigger and think differently. I’d love you to join me to give yourself the time and space to dream, envision, plan, reset and REACH into a bigger, more fulfilling, more aligned and authentic future filled with all the possibilities of your heart’s desire. Ready for a business breakthrough? Sometimes we may not feel ready for a breakthrough. Maybe we don't feel confident. We don't have enough information. We don't have all the skills. We don't know the final outcome if things change in our world, which can be a bit scary. And often, we're sitting on this precipice of wanting to move forward but thinking, "Oh my gosh. I don't know if I can do that big scary thing that I really want to do." When we think about our breakthroughs, here's what I want you to know. The only reason to have a breakthrough is to get to the other side of where you are now. And that applies to any part of your life and business. You have to go through the experience to get to the other side. So, when I look back at some of the significant breakthroughs I've had in my business over the last 27 years, I notice a pattern. Time and time again, my business breakthroughs would happen when I said yes to an invitation. In this episode, I share some of my biggest breakthroughs over the last 27 years.
Listen to Hear: -> How the 26-year-old me was ‘saved’ by saying yes to a mentor’s invitation to take a 16-day business training. (Woah! It blew my mind.) -> The night that sharing stories, beer and peanuts in a Singapore bar turned into a magical business relationship. -> How to recognise invitations to ‘level up’ that you want to act on (and which ones to ignore). -> The three steps to business breakthroughs and the correct (and most lucrative) order to take these steps. -> How to act on your hunches even when facing fear head-on. -> The power of pausing BEFORE you take action. -> The types of business visions that will help you avoid playing small. -> What to do next to take your business to its next business breakthrough.

Getting new clients often starts with Showing Up. You're visible when you're showing up, putting your hand up for things, and saying yes to opportunities. SHOWING UP is about knowing what your GOALS and VISION are - where the goalposts are. That means you KNOW HOW TO POSITION YOURSELF and explain what you do in a way that demonstrates how you help people. This means you know who YOUR IDEAL CLIENT is. You're clear on their pain points and HOW YOU HELP resolve them. And you have a way that you help them that GETS RESULTS. In addition, you're prepared to invest in getting to know others and building rapport and how you can help them. And you get in the game with an OPEN MINDSET, open to OPPORTUNITIES and COLLABORATION. So, how do you get there? You have a PLAN, and an intention for the RESULTS YOU WANT to get. You're clear on your strengths and what you bring to the situation. And you show up prepared. But, SHOWING UP isn't always easy, even for the most outgoing women. SHOWING UP CONSISTENTLY can be tricky, too, when we have so many competing demands. You'll enjoy this episode if you want to:

To grow your business, you have to stop being the one making every business decision. Making ALL the decisions is exhausting. And if you've ever gotten to the end of the day and thought… "Oh… I can't even decide what I want for dinner. Someone just feed me, please! And bring me a glass of wine while you're at it."… you might be suffering from decision fatigue. Being stuck making all the decisions is a common pain point for small business owners (especially if you're a solopreneur). You stop being the one who has to make EVERY SINGLE DECISION by putting the right systems and processes in place for your marketing, planning, your team, and more. Inside of HerBusiness, we have a framework called the HerBusiness Growth Zones®. It's a framework that helps you focus on what will help your business grow and succeed. And, it is essential to go from being a solopreneur to growing a small business and then on to being an entrepreneur with a growing and scalable business. We've used these 8 Growth Zones as the basis for our business success. They are also the foundation for our mentoring programs, which we've been running since 1998. So we know they work. One of those Growth Zones is PEOPLE. The People Growth Zone incorporates how you hire people, train them, motivate them and even decide when it's the right time to grow or shrink your team. It also relates to your extended team - consultants, designers, copywriters - your bookkeeper - all the people that support you in getting things done and whom you need to lead and motivate. And you may have experienced some "people" challenges in your business. Either not having enough people, so you keep getting pulled into doing the low-level work, or not feeling like you can afford people, or not sure how to train them. Or perhaps you are on the brink of hiring a team and want to know how to avoid the heartache and expense that can come when you don't get this right. Regardless, changing how you think about decisions, what you do (and what you don't) decide and your mindset around getting others to help make decisions is the core of this episode. Because you can't do everything yourself. Not if you want to grow a sustainable, profitable business. You'll enjoy this episode if you want to:

It’s a VERY good day when a business owner you’ve been cheering on hits that magical 6-figure mark! And naturopath and menopause expert Angela Counsel has an AMAZING story about her journey to that awesome milestone (including how she almost gave up right before she had her BIGGEST breakthrough!). When Angela Counsel joined the HerBusiness Network, she gave herself and her new business “one year.” She was, in her words, going to either “fold or fly.” At the time, she struggled to make even $10,000 - $20,000 revenue per year selling her courses aimed at helping women thrive in Menopause. When the opportunity to take part in the 30-Day Mastermind Experience program came up, she grabbed it with both hands… During those 30 days, she got her marketing strategy dialled in and had a BIG a-ha! about a big mistake she was making with her approach. Based on those solid foundations, she went on to transform her results, filling her high-dollar embrace program and hitting that magical $100,000 milestone! Angela completely overhauled her business and marketing approach to have a massive breakthrough with an EXISTING program she had that wasn’t performing. And the results were truly incredible. She went from getting 3 or 4 people each time she ran the program to 40 people! It was a total TRANSFORMATION and a real thrill to see her do so well. In this episode of the HerBusiness podcast, I share with you how to discover WHO your IDEAL Client is so that you can easily find MORE ideal clients just like them and know exactly where to look for them and have them buy from you sooner. Because now you finally feel clear and confident about what products and services to offer and who you serve. EVERYTHING in your business becomes clearer and more focused when you know who your Ideal Client is. It helps you answer one of THE MOST important questions you will ever ask in your Business which is: “How do I get MORE clients?”Discovering who your IDEAL Client is STARTS with CHOOSING your IDEAL Client. Yep, getting clear on WHO you want to work with and who you don’t. Because while working with the wrong clients may not be life-threatening, it can make you pretty miserable! And I’m going to take you through that process in today’s episode so that you can channel your time and focus on your ideal clients. Even if you’ve been in Business for a while and you ALREADY have a fair idea of who your perfect customer is, this process will still benefit you. In this podcast, I will also share the universal process every one of your IDEAL clients goes through when thinking about buying from you… and how you can use that inside knowledge to ensure MORE people buy from you MORE often. Once you know this universal process that everyone goes through whenever they buy ANYTHING, you’ll have this knowledge FOR LIFE, and you can apply it again and again. It’s like seeing inside your customer’s mind. It’s such an essential piece of the puzzle to have a marketing strategy that works. It’s like someone has already given you the answers to an exam or revealed the secret code to a puzzle. And it puts you SO far ahead. Because when you can get a repeatable, reliable marketing system in place, you have the cornerstone of your IDEAL Business… Because regular clients mean regular income, you can stop the stress of having up and down lumpy cash flow - that pattern of good months and bad months that we so often experience as small business owners. AND you have a solid financial base which means you can make confident decisions on things like…
And a thousand other decisions become EASIER and CLEARER because you’ve got that regular, reliable income coming in day in and day out. So, to recap… I’ll show you how to get clear on your IDEAL Client AND crack the code on the buying process every single one of your customers goes through when thinking about buying from you… Sound good? It’s a lot, right? That’s really why I developed the IDEAL Business System. As business owners, we have an ongoing need to upskill and grow our knowledge.
How we market our business changes. New technology comes along that makes the old way of doing things obsolete. Trends change and evolve. What worked yesterday, no longer works and so we need to grow and learn and implement new strategies. But when should you spend money on conferences, retreats, courses and other business education? And which options will give you the best return on investment' for your time, effort, dollars and energy? If you're wondering whether you should be investing more in your education… Or, if you've been buying "all the things" but not seeing progress then remember this: The best reason to spend money on conferences, courses, and retreats is to get new knowledge to improve your life or business. But building your knowledge and skills is not about overlearning and buying "all the courses". It's about learning, implementing, and getting results. If you have several programs (courses, books, webinars) that you are not using, know that the next course or program may not be the silver bullet. Because you want to get the education that is going to lead you closer to your ideal business. You may not need to know how to build a course, or start a podcast, or do an online challenge. Maybe you need a course that shows you have to create a solid plan for your marketing over the next 12 months. Or, how to really understand your finances so that you next financial year is better than the last. Ideally, your investment in conferences, courses etc., should move you forward and move your business forward. YOU are your best investment. So investing in your business education is always a good idea IF it is keeping you on the path to your ideal business and not being a distraction. The right business education can help to:
These three benefits are excellent ROI (return on investment) in the time and energy you spend on education. But, there is a more significant benefit. It's what I call RETURN ON LEARNING. In this episode of the HerBusiness podcast, I give you:

Right now, you could be so close to breaking through in your business. You may only be missing a few pieces of the puzzle and my goal is to help you find those missing pieces. Maybe you're just getting started in your business. Working hard to get a new business off the ground can be really overwhelming and knowing exactly where to put your energy so that things move forward can be challenging, especially when you feel like you're being pulled in a thousand different directions. Or, if you've been in business for a while, maybe you've had some growth, but now things have slowed down and you've seen the results flatten out, or maybe even go backwards. You might feel like you've lost your mojo. And the momentum you used to have is gone. And that can leave you feeling stuck, frustrated, not to mention anxious, not sure what to do next, to turn things around, or perhaps you've got the opposite problem. Or maybe your situation is that you've experienced some rapid growth in your business. Things have really taken off and while that's been great, it's created a ton of new challenges that have left you struggling to keep up hiring new team members, juggling cash flow, and working long hours that can all take its toll and put your continued growth at risk. Unless you can figure out a way to manage it. If any of those situations ring true for you, you're not alone. I meet women all the time, all over the world who tell me that they have similar challenges. And over the past 27 years of being in business, I can say that I've experienced each of them, myself, at least one time or another. As a business owner, you can feel like you’re in a rut when there are so many demands competing for your attention, or you feel like you’ve hit a place where you’re stuck, and what worked just isn’t working anymore. What I’ve found coaching women for over 26 years is that the mistake business owners make over and over again is that they are too general in three business areas. Unfortunately, being too general moves you in the opposite direction to your goals of more clients and a more profitable business.
What are three specific focus areas that can help your sales go up and the pressure down? That’s what we cover in this episode. When you get specific about these three areas, you make more sales, and the pressure comes down, reducing the overwhelm and stress of running a business — which is a great thing. So, let’s dive into these three areas:
You’ll hear how being specific about your ideal client, your plan and your message helps you reach more people and get new clients while reducing the overwhelm and feeling like you’re spinning plates and not keeping up. And you’ll hear about the one thing we got specific about that made us stronger and more profitable as a business. She has been part of our network for over a year and recently joined our Marketing Success Mastermind. Julia has a sizeable business that she's been growing consistently over many years. In this interview, she takes us through the trajectory of:
… her business from zero to a seven-figure business. She also talks us through the mental shifts she took to step into the CEO role and let go of the tasks that kept her busy with unimportant work. You'll hear Julia explain that while she's not afraid of setting and hitting financial goals, letting go of roles that she'd outgrown in her business proved a little more challenging than she thought. You'll see why even if they're wearing all the hats at the moment and they're feeling exhausted and overwhelmed, you too can start to let go and thrive in your business.
