In her book Power Attractor, author Gabrielle Bernstein says: In this episode of the HerBusiness podcast I share:
Inspiration Tips from the HerBusiness Network membersWhen we asked members how they bring more inspiration into their lives and here’s what they said... “My morning walks and writing. On the inspiration side of things, quality people, a good (I love biographies) on-going education, podcasts etc. and removing negative people from my life.” “Sitting in a quiet place preferably surrounded by nature with its beauty and sounds. Ironically though a lot of my creative ideas happen at around 3 am, so l need to keep pen & paper next to the bed.” “For me, it’s being visionary, believing is seeing.
Each January for the past 19 years I set a minimum of 1 big goal which is hard to achieve and a few small goals to support it. Every year of achieved it personally or professionally.” "I love a good 'CLEAR OUT' at the end of every year. Cleaning out all papers, old clothes, kids toys, old books - basically anything that doesn't serve me or my family. A lot may go to donations and helps others, otherwise, the rest goes to the tip! For me, it keeps that cycle of giving going as well cleansing. Getting rid of old energy and bringing in the new." “For business, I need to find time to step away - travel - go somewhere else (even the beach for a few hours), but I need to remove myself from the environment to get new ideas, inspiration and allow my 'left brain' to quieten down and my right brain some space to do its thing. Ideally, this works better if I can get away for at least a few days, but on the micro-level just taking a walk through a bush trail or along the beach is also good. I also listen to mindset podcasts while walking to open up some new ways of thinking.” “Alone time, exercise, books, podcasts.” “Crochet! My morning square is my meditative time and some amazing ideas come to me some days while making my square.” “For me as a full-on right-brainer (creative) inspiration comes from everywhere... looking at people, Behance, grocery shopping (looking at the packaging), art galleries, magazines, movie set, fabrics, fashion design etc, everything that is tactile. I get inspiration absolutely everywhere and I store things that I feel interesting, in my brain to use later. I think I’m very conditioned in that way as a creative director because inspiration is the source of every idea you bring to the table. I can spend hooouurrs in a bottle shop looking at all the beautiful labels and packaging... this while I don’t drink a drop of alcohol lol. This image, for example, gives me so much inspiration... the colour, texture, composition, contrast, etc." “Being fully present to whatever I'm doing allows my creativity to flow and lights me up.” “I believe in like attracting like and that surrounding yourself with the energy you want to work with will illuminate your own creativity. Sometimes I, crank up the stereo to Gyuto Monks chanting, it just works! or go to an art gallery, sit with a notepad and take a deep breath and just write, anything. All of it sparks my inspiration.” “For me, it’s reflection, connection and routine. (Maybe these could be my better 3 words for 2020.) Morning rituals of meditation, yoga and healthy breakfast, chunking time for priority tasks, theming the week and setting aside a weekend each month for a solitary retreat all work wonders for me.” “I love my morning practice - meditation - journaling - yoga. That keeps me grounded and inspires clarity. My greatest source of inspiration occurs during learning via podcasts, audiobooks, webinars or reading book books.” “I engage the team with funny gifs and morning messages - and we all chat - which makes us feel connected and ready to go.” Also mentioned in this episode:

Happy new year. For many of us, this is a time of contemplating and deliberately creating the new year. A time for envisioning what we want to do better, differently this year. A time for starting and breaking habits. Each January for a few years, I’ve taken on Chris Brogan‘s invitation to set three words as a focus for the year. Chris Brogan is an American author, journalist, marketing consultant, and speaker about social media marketing I’ve had the pleasure to meet and interview a few times. He has really great books like The Impact Equation, Trust Agents and one of my fave titles - The Freaks Shall Inherit the Earth - Entrepreneurship for Weirdos, Misfits, and World Dominators. A couple of weeks back, Chris did a one-hour webinar where he talked through how to pick your three words, how to incorporate their usage into your day to day planning and execution, and how to use the My 3 Words method for deciding how best to make decisions that closely match your intentions. Chris says this about his process: “Every year, at the beginning of the year, choose 3 words that have personal meaning to you that you will use as guideposts for your chosen path forward in the coming year. Make the words such that they influence your choice of actions, encourage you to decide in favour of your goals, and guide you towards lasting results that you want to experience throughout the year.” So, after a few days of tossing around words that might be a good fit, I came up with my three words.
